What does Open AI see in India & how should India look at OpenAI

A true self-driving car will need to work as a safe option on the streets of India, not Silicon Valley. The same holds true for AI. India represents the world's largest human dataset: 1.4 billion people speaking 22 official languages, navigating 28 states with vastly different socio-economic realities. When AI companies train on homogeneous Western data, they create brittle intelligence that breaks in diversity. India offers the ultimate stress test—if AI works in Rajasthan's villages and Mumbai's towers simultaneously, it can work anywhere.

OpenAI isn't just extracting talent or market share. It's harvesting behavioral patterns that will define global AI for decades. Every interaction with ChatGPT Go in India generates training data on how emerging economies engage with AI. The risk is intellectual extraction. If India becomes merely a data mine rather than a decision-maker, it will train the AI that eventually governs its own future.
